ABOUT US...

Johnny Potato Seed (JPS) is a passion project born from the friendship of Jon Agnew and Brian Smith. We met as freshmen at Boise State University in 2009 and, though we didn't plan on a career in agriculture, every summer found us back in the potato fields of Eastern Idaho. In 2014, we launched Potadaho Seed Services. Since then, we’ve evolved from a rogueing crew into custom seed potato specialists. From leaf-picking and disease testing to professional consultation, we are committed to those who share our love of potato cultivation.

We started JPS to provide gardeners, nurseries, and hobby farmers with the highest quality certified seed potatoes and to archive virtually our own potato pedagogy. We believe potatoes are one of the world's most vital crops—they are resilient, caloric dense, and produce some of the most beautiful vegetables agriculture has to offer. Our goal is to crowd out "bad seed" on the internet and raise awareness about the risks of improper practices, like using grocery store potatoes for planting.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY ORDER?
We process orders in the sequence in which they are received—pre-ordering helps—and we will ship according to the shipping schedule above. We try and ship orders out everyday before 3:45 pm. On average, you can expect 8 tubers in a pound. We aim for seed weight of 2.25-3.5 oz for each spud, although Fingerlings can be a bit lighter and Vikings a bit heavier. We always pack a little extra to ensure you get the best value.
